Obituary



Marjorie E. (Burke) Rondeau, age 97 of Brockton, died Sunday March 30, 2014 at the Kindred Blue Hill Alzheimer Care Center after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Oscar Rondeau. Marjorie was born in Brockton a daughter of the late James and Cora (Best) Burke and lived in the city for most of her life before moving to East Bridgewater in 2003.

A 1935 graduate of Brockton High School, Marjorie was a bookkeeper by profession. She retired from the Cardinal Cushing Hospital in 1980 and previously worked at Brockton Ice & Coal and Kibart’s Studebaker in Brockton. In her free time she enjoyed bowling, bingo and knitting and also wintering in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Marjorie was the devoted mother of James F. Riley, Sr. of St. Petersburg, FL and Kathleen A. Porter wife of the late David of East Bridgewater. She leaves nine grandchildren James F. Riley, Jr., Karen, Brian, Linda, Dawn, Lauren and Patrick Riley, Sarah Porter and Maura Dearing and her husband Jeffrey. She also leaves 13 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Mildred Coots (her twin), Lester Burke, Lena Dunn and Allyene Burke.

Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton on Wednesday 5-8 pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home on Thursday at 9:30 am for a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 10:30 am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
