Obituary

Helen Molloy DeForitis (neé Danis), 97, of Franklin died March 26, 2014 at the Maples Nursing Center in Wrentham. She was the wife of the late Raymond J. DeForitis to whom she had been married for 18 years.

Helen was born and raised in Woonsocket, R.I., the daughter of George J. and Rose Danis. After high school graduation, Helen worked for a few years as a bookkeeper prior to her marriage to Joseph A. Molloy of Franklin. They resided in Franklin for many years raising their four children there.

Helen returned to work later at the Wrentham State School where she was employed in food services until her retirement. She later moved to Florida for some years until her second husband’s death when she returned to Massachusetts; first to Plainville and back to Franklin in 2000.

Helen is survived by her children, Karen A. Gilbert and husband Wayne of Boothbay, Maine, Kevin J. Molloy and wife Linda of Turner Falls, MA, Susan E. Leary and husband Joseph of Franklin and Jo-Ann Mercer and husband Thomas of Franklin.

She is also survived by her sisters, Joan Joubert and husband Robert of Woonsocket, R.I., Ann Morin of Woonsocket and Mary Jane St. Onge of Woonsocket and brothers, William Danis of Franklin and Edward Danis and wife Doris of Linwood, MA. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Charlotte Danis and Antoinette Danis.

She is predeceased by her first husband Joseph A. Molloy, her brothers George Danis Jr. and Robert Danis and by her sisters Irene Ruhmann and Ruth Manocchio.

Helen also leaves 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Church in Franklin on Monday, April 7th at 10 a.m. Burial will be private at a later date.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, April 6th from 4-7 p.m. in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main Street, Franklin (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com).

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Helen’s memory to the Activity Department, Maples Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 90 Taunton Street, Wrentham, MA 02093.
