Marion Gundersen, 50, of Derry, NH, formerly of Staten Island, NY, died Saturday March 29, 2014 after a period of declining health. Marion was born March 11, 1964 in Brooklyn, NY and was the daughter of the late Vincent P. and Sylvia (Salmanson) Scodary. She was raised and educated in Staten Island graduating from Tottenville High School in 1982. She resided in Staten Island her entire life, prior to relocating to Derry 12 years ago.
Marion was employed for many years as an office manager with the YMCA of Staten Island. She loved music and singing, especially 70’s tunes. She was a former member of the Nansen Chorus of Staten Island and was a certified Rachel Ray fan. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church on Staten Island.
Members of the family include her husband of 26 ½ years, Richard C. Gundersen of Derry, her brother, Philip Scodary of Chestertown, NY, as well as 10 nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister-in-law, Adrienne Scodary.
After cremation, visiting hours will be held Thursday April 3, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry, NH. A Celebration of her life will be held Friday at 11 am at the Grace Lutheran Church, 130 Spit Brook Road, Nashua, NH.
