H.M. Daniels, Sr., 90, of Fitzgerald, passed into the presence of the Lord and Master that he faithfully served throughout his earthly life on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Phoebe Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald.
Funeral services will be held 2 P.M., Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Lloyd Stembridge and the Rev. David Biggers officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Monday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Daniels was born January 29, 1924, in Ocilla, to the late Thomas and Mattie Arnold Daniel. He was a graduate of Ocilla High School where he played baseball and was on the 8th District Championship basketball team for the 1941-1942 season. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Daniels was a retired inspector for the Georgia Department of Agriculture. He loved to ride his golf cart and enjoyed gardening and sharing his vegetables with friends and neighbors. Mr. Daniels passion was his Lord and faithfully serving Him was his greatest achievement. He was a member of Arbor Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years: Annie Paulk Daniels of Fitzgerald; a son: Mackie & Gail Daniels of Fitzgerald; a daughter: Linda & Hollis Jenkins of Covington, Louisiana; two granddaughters: Shannon & Sammy Reynolds of Fitzgerald and Lisa Daniels of Covington, Georgia; two great-grandchildren: Marisa Reynolds and Austin Reynolds, both of Fitzgerald; two sisters: Lorena Bryant of Irwin County and Inez Purvis Wheeler of Berrien County; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
