Anthony Vacca, Esq., 88, of Greenville, passed away on March 30, 2014. He was the beloved husband of the late Rose C. Vacca whom he he adored.
Born in Graniteville, RI, a son of the late Charles and Jennie ( Imondi) Vacca.
In 1943 during his second year at Providence College he entered the military. He was a coxswain in the Navy and was attached to the 4th Marine Divison during the invasion of Tinian Island in the Marianas which later became the launching point for the atomic bomb and he received a campaign medal for his participation.
Upon his return to Rhode Island after the war, he continued his studies at Providence College. After graduating, he went on to Northeastern University School of Law in Boston. He was admitted to the Rhode Island Bar Association in 1951.
Anthony was a daily communicant of St. Philip Church and was a devout Catholic.
He is survived by his daughters, Frances J. Alvino and her husband Michael of Weschester, NY, Carolyn M. Pelzman and her husband Jon of Greenville, his 6 grandchildren. Anthony is the brother of Pat Pieranunzi and the late Rose Hall, Charles Vacca and Francis Vacca.
His funeral will be held Tuesday at 8:30am from the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville, RI. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation Monday 4-7pm.
