Roland J. Turgeon, 81, of Manchester, passed away on March 27, 2014 at Catholic Medical Center, with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Notre Dame des Bois, PQ on March 3, 1933, the son of Albert and Rose Alma (Breault) Turgeon. Roland attended school in Canada and during his working career, was a carpenter for the Union Local 40 of Boston.
He was a member of the Rimmon Club and enjoyed playing golf. Roland will be remembered as a great father, family man, role model and friend, and above all, loved spending time with his family. He also loved his favorite chair.
Roland's family includes four sons, Yvon Turgeon of Canada, Andre Turgeon of Manchester, David Turgeon of Manchester and Steve Turgeon of Nashua; four daughters, Linda MacDonald of Manchester, Christine Glover of Franklin, Elaine Baillargeon of Dunbarton and Yvette Daily of Thornton; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Roland was one of ten children.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Monday, March 31, 2014 in St. Joseph Cathedral. Committal prayers followed in the mausoleum at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association, 460 Totten Pond Rd., Suite 400, Waltham, MA, 02451.
