SPRINGFIELD – Lorraine G. (Blair) Allen, 92, a longtime resident of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, March 26, 2014. She passed into Eternal Life at Mount Saint Vincent Care Center in Holyoke surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born in Springfield on March 11, 1922, a beloved daughter of the late Joseph D. and Florence (Dwight) Blair. She was raised in the South End section of Springfield, graduated from the High School of Commerce and lived in Springfield for most of her life. She was employed for many years at the W. F. Young Company in Springfield. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 47 years, Edwin Perry Allen who was Called Home on September 25, 2010. Besides her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her loving brother, Raymond W. Blair who was Called Home on November 21, 2006. She leaves her loving sister-in-law, Eda (Daniele) Blair of Wilbraham; her cherished nephews and nieces, Allan and Sheila Blair, John and Shirley Blair, Deborah and John Batur, Raymond W. Blair, Jr., and Janice and Michael Hassett. She also leaves her many cherished grandnephews, grandnieces, great grandnephews and great grandnieces. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday morning, April 1, 2014 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Committal Service will follow the Mass at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday morning, April 1, 2014 from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. before the Mass. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
