V. Barbara Ryan of Woburn, formerly of Medford, passed away peacefully on March 21st at the age of 90. Born in West Roxbury, raised and educated in Medford, she was one of eight children of the late Timothy F. and Josephine C. (O'Brien) Ryan. Barbara was predeceased by her sisters: Mary C. Cole, Helen M. Doherty, Marguerite A. Fisher, Katherine B. Maurice, Therese DeAngelis, and by her brothers: Edward and Francis Ryan. She is lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Barbara dedicated her life to her position with the Federal Government for over 25 years. She lived most of that time overseas where she enjoyed traveling the world and making many Dear Friends in a job that she loved so much. She retired in 1989 and worked for the private sector until 1991. Barbara's retirement gave her time to spend with family and friends and of course her beloved dog, Whisky. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Funeral Services will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Saturday, March 29th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Fellsway West, Medford, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
