Obituary

Jordan “Zim” Zimmerman, age 65, of 225 Midway Oval, Groton, died peacefully Friday at his home with his wife and family at his side.

Zim was born in Camden, NJ on July 2, 1939 the youngest of 14 children to Andrew and Lillian Zimmerman. After receiving his education, he served in the US Navy for 4 years.

He enjoyed a 34 year distinguished career at Electric Boat in Groton, retiring as a Radiologist in 1996.

He was an accomplished woodworker and enjoyed playing darts. Well-known and respected by all who knew him, he was a member of the SubVets of Groton, The Fleet Reserve Assoc., and the Groton Lodge of Elks.

Zim married Toni L. (Smith) Zimmerman in Mystic in 1991. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son Jeffrey Zimmerman and his wife Jen of Groton, a son Bernard Cousens Jr. and his wife Penny of New London, two sons, Jeremy and Sean Zimmerman and two daughterrs, Dawn and Tina Zimmerman, all of Groton, a sister, Lillian May of Florida, a niece Mary Keip and her husband Bart, 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Zim’s family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Monday from 4-7pm. His Funeral Service will be on Tuesday at 11am at the funeral home with burial following in Smith Lake Cemetery.
