Augusta, GA – Mrs. Barbara Joyce Barton Toole, 80, beloved wife of 39 years of the late Charles Calvin Toole, entered into rest on Monday, March 24, 2014.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Platt’s Crawford Avenue Chapel with Rev. Barry V. Wren officiating. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mrs. Toole was born in Augusta, GA in 1933 to Leon T Barton, Sr. and Myrtis Mae Washington Barton. She went on to attend Joseph R. Lamar Elementary, Tubman High School, and graduated from Coker College. Charlie and Joyce made many friends together while working and living in Albany, NY, Dublin, GA, St. Petersburg, FL, and Arden, NC, but came home to retire near lifelong friends and family in Augusta where she was a member of Curtis Baptist Church. Joyce was a sweet, Southern lady who gave anything she could to family, friends, and any stranger she encountered in her lifetime.
Mrs. Toole is survived by her brothers, Melvin Barton and Leon Barton (Ann); her sister-in-law, Barbara Barton, her numerous nieces and nephews, Mary Beth Bowdoin, Marion Jennings, Jr., Howard Toole, Lucille Bush, Iris Bush, Tina Larumbe, Lee Barton, Kathy Howard, Barry Barton, Camille Barton Spires, Douglas Barton, Gregory Barton, and Benji Barton; and her numerous great-nieces and nephews – all whom loved and cared for Joyce.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Toole was preceded in death by her brother, William F. Barton, Sr.; her sister-on-law, Dianne Barton; hew nephew, William Barton, Jr. and her niece, Angela Jackson.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Wren, Michael Barton, Mason Spires, Megan Barton, Ed Howard, Benji Barton, Doug Barton, and Greg Barton.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, March 26, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
