Leander was born on October 22, 1935 at Fayetteville, to Arnold Minar and Anita Blinka Minar. He married Ann Supak on October 29, 1966 at Plum. He was a retired carpenter who loved gardening and mowed lawns in Ellinger after retirement. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ellinger and SPJST.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Minar; daughter, Carol Ann Hopkins and husband Michael of Ellinger; one sister, Charlyn Krause and husband Melvin of Brenham; one brother, Raymond Minar of Ellinger; two grandchildren, Steven Schmidt, Jr. of Willow Springs and Emily Ann Schmidt of Brenham; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Leander was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Christopher Schmidt.
Visitation scheduled on Wednesday March 26, 2014 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Ellinger. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM.
Funeral services scheduled for Thursday March 27, 2014 at 10:00 AM at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Ellinger.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
