Gary Thomas Little, age 78, of Stonington, loving, devoted husband of Colleen (Dingivan) Little, died Friday, March 21, 2014 after a brief illness, in the care and company of his loved ones.
He was born in New London, Saturday, April 6, 1935, the son of John E. and Genieve T. (Poplaski) Little.
A lifelong resident of this area, Gary was raised in Quaker Hill, graduating with the Class of 1952 from Chapman Technical High School. He soon enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving four years and was honorably discharged in 1959 at the rank of Airman First
Class.
Returning home, he began his working career with Chas. T. Pfizer Inc in Groton in the Research and Development Dept. retiring thirty-seven years later in 1997. He also worked for several years for the Groton Senior Center in transportation services. He currently served as Vice President of the Connecticut Marine Model Society, a division of the IPMS, CT Chapter.
A gifted and talented artist and craftsman in many mediums, Gary was most proud of his model shipbuilding and woodcarving skills. He will be remembered for his gentle, kind and
compassionate nature by those fortunate to know him and call him their friend.
In addition to his wife Colleen, he is survived by his four children and their families; two daughters; Melissa Little of Bartlett, NH, Kristen Little of Groton, two sons, Scott Little of
Salem and Gary Little, and also two grandchildren; Emily and Frank. Two brothers; John E. Little Jr. of Seneca, SC and Thomas A. Little of Santa Rosa, CA, and one sister; Jean Little of
New London, CT also survive him.
A gathering in celebration of his life will be held on Friday, March 28, 2014 at 11am at his home, 9 Circle Drive, Stonington. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. There
will be no calling hours and burial will be private.
