Carol L. House, 94, of Berlin, passed away on Sunday March 23, 2014 at the St. Vincent de Paul Rehab and Healthcare Center in Berlin. She was born in Malden, MA on June 26, 1919 the daughter of Johnson B. and Cecil M. (Coombs) House and was raised in Whitefield, NH. She graduated as the Valedictorian from Whitefield High School Class of 1936 and was employed by Mellin-Quincy Manufacturing Co. in Whitefield from 1939-1955. She moved to Berlin in 1955 and was the executive secretary to Lawrence Whittemore and all of the vice-presidents and general managers at James River Corp. until her retirement in 1984. Carol was a member of the Community Baptist Church in Whitefield and had been a friend at the Berlin UCC, Congregational Church in Berlin. She had been president of the Women’s Guild of the Congregational Church, past Worthy Matron of the Starr King Chapter, O.E.S. of Berlin and was a member of the Mt. Eustis Chapter, O.E.S. in Littleton, NH.
Members of the family include some cousins.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday March 28, 2014 at 1 PM at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin. There will be no calling hours. Interment and committal prayers will be held in the Pine Street Cemetery, Whitefield, NH on Friday morning May 9, 2014 at 11 AM. Reverend Dean A. Stiles will officiate.
