Frank Guenther Taylor went peacefully to his Lord, Saturday, March 22, 2014. He had been a resident at Schulenburg Regency Nursing Home for three years. Frank was a retired master carpenter and a well-known building contractor for over 55 years. He served his country for three years during the Korean Conflict as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps. On September 23, 1950, he married Vivian Froehlich in Zion Lutheran Church of La Grange (now Mt. Calvary).
Frank is survived by his wife of 63 years and their three children Stuart Frank Taylor and wife Nancy, De Layne Allen, and Bronwyn Griffith and husband Mark; five grandchildren – Matthew Taylor, Laurie Taylor Hooper, Caleb Allen, Taylor Allen, and Ashley Griffith; three great-grandchildren – Crit Hooper, Kinley Hooper, and Kennedy Allen; one brother, Ross Schindel; two sisters, Roxie Littlejohn and Carolyn Schmidt.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents John Wesley and Eugenia Pugh Taylor; three brothers Wesley, Jack and Tommy; four sisters Eula (Bea) Freré, Sue Thomas, Ruby Kirkpatrick and Roberta Hawk.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Winchester City Cemetery in Winchester, Texas. Family will receive guests from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, March 25 at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange.
Honorary pall bearers are grandsons Matthew Taylor, Caleb Allen, Taylor Allen, nephews Jason Appelt, William Froehlich and Dennis Herzik.
Family recommends memorials be given to Mt. Calvary Preschool, Texas Wendish Heritage Society, or other of your choice.
