Eugene Joseph “Gene” Drago, 87, passed away Saturday March 22, 2014 at his residence.
He was born October 19, 1926 in Morgantown, WV to Anthony & Pearl (Shero) Drago.
“Gene” was a graduate of the University of Louisville and was a WW II Army Veteran.
He was the retired Director of Building Inspection Dept. and Co-Director of the Board of Elections.
Gene was former member of Jefferson Co. Democratic Executive Committee, Chairman of the 29th Legislative District, Former member of Board of Zoning Adjustment and Southwest Metro United Way Advisory Committee.
He served on the Board of Directors of the River Region Mental Health and Seven County Services.
Gene was a proud member of American Legion Post # 220.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years, Patricia Sue (Blanton) Drago, his Son: Michael Eugene Drago; his Parents; and a Brother: John Elmer Drago.
Survivors include his children: Anthony “Tony” Drago and Rebecca Ann Stivers; a Grandson: Eugene Gilbert Stivers and a Daughter-in-Law: Madeline Drago.
A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 PM Thursday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Hwy., with private burial to follow in Cave Hill Cemetery.
Memorial Visitation will be Wednesday 2:00 – 8:00 PM
