Obituary

Richard A. Leroux, 79, of Derry, NH passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 22, 2014 surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born on January 25, 1935 in Berlin, NH to John and Alberta (Melanson) Leroux. He had been a resident of Derry for 47 years. After graduating from Berlin High School, he joined the US Air Force and served in Biloxi, MS and Labrador. Mr. Leroux then went on to work for Raytheon Corporation in Andover, MA for 35 years, before retiring in 1994. He enjoyed landscaping, woodworking and summers at Sebago Lake.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sandra (Mason) Leroux, his son, Donald Leroux and his wife Janet, his daughter, Cynthia Rohm and her husband Dean, five grandchildren, Danielle and Melissa Leroux and Zachary, Alexander and Suzanne Rohm, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by a daughter, Diane B. Leroux in 1978.
Calling hours were held on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 from 4 – 7pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry. A Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday, March 26th at 11:00am in St Thomas Aquinas Church, 26 Crystal Avenue, Derry. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Gilcreast Road, Londonderry. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Richard’s memory to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168, earmarked for NH Oncology/Hematology in Londonderry or to the Visiting Nurses Association of Manchester and Southern NH, 1070 Holt Avenue, Suite 1400, Manchester, NH 03109.
