Eric D. Haigh, 39

Eric D. Haigh, age 39, of Plainville, formerly of Hyde Park passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 21, 2014. He was the beloved husband of Eleanor C. (Coolidge) Haigh to whom he was wed on July 30, 2004 and the devoted father of Jason D. Haigh of Plainville
Born in Pittsfield, MA on February 5, 1975, he was a loving son of the late Paul E. and Joan B. (Gooley) Haigh. He grew up in Hyde Park and was a 1993 graduate of Don Bosco High School in Boston.
For the past 15 years, Eric was a Union Boiler Maker employed through the Local 29 Boiler Makers Union in Quincy. For the past 15 years he had also made his home in Plainville.
Family was the focal point of Eric’s life. He loved the simple pleasures of hanging out with his wife and son whether it be on family vacations, camping at Canoe River Campground in Mansfield, or simply at home.
Eric was also an avid golfer of which his favorite course to play on was the George Wright Golf Course in his hometown of Hyde Park. At the time of his death he was eagerly anticipating the birth of his first niece.
In addition to his beloved wife Eleanor and his devoted son Jason , he was the cherished nephew of William Gooley of Norwood. He was the dear son in law of Eleanor Coolidge of Hyde and the late William Coolidge, and is also survived by his loving sister in law Jennifer DeBesse and her husband Joseph of Hanover as well as his adoring nephews Joseph and Ryan DeBesse.
His funeral service, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday, March 29th at 5:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield. Burial will be private.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday afternoon prior to the services from 2:00-5:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Eric’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the Rockland Federal Credit Union, 76 Copeland Drive, Mansfield, MA 02048 for his son Jason’s education.
