Obituary

James “Jim” Scribner Gilson, 78 of East Bridgewater, formerly of Whitman, MA died unexpectedly on March 20th. Born on December 31, 1935, to the late Clarence and Ruth Gilson, he was husband of the late Jean Elaine Gilson of Whitman and the late Ede (McClellan) Gilson of East Bridgewater. He leaves behind a sister Marjorie Gilson Bonnivier of Arizona. He was preceded in death by his brother Robert Gilson. He was the loving father of Peter Gilson and wife Janice of Whitman, Darlene Gilson of Whitman, Douglas Gilson and wife Cathy of Plymouth, Jeffery Gilson and wife Debbie of Indiana and Gregory Gilson of Plymouth. Other sons and daughter include Skip Tobin, William Tobin, Thomas Tobin, Henry Adam Mitchell and Kathleen Fuller and the late Henry Everett Mitchell and the late Allen Mitchell. He will be missed by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He worked in the automotive industry for many years. He enjoyed traveling, spending time in his RV and snowbirding in Florida. He loved tinkering with computers, taking and sharing photos of family and friends. He enjoyed making greeting cards for family and friends. He enjoyed socializing with the girls at the Hanson Senior Center and daily breakfast with his friends at Millie’s Restaurant but took the most enjoyment spending time with his family.
Relative and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service on Friday March 28, 2014 at 10 a.m. at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Burial will follow in the Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday, March 27, 2014 from 4 to 8 p.m.
