Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother
TEWKSBURY: Helfried (Ernst) Adams, age 91, a resident of Tewksbury for 54 years, passed away at the Lowell General Hospital-Saints Campus on Tuesday, March 18, 2014.
She was the beloved wife of Louis A. Adams, who passed away on January 29, 1998 and devoted mother of Madeline C. (Adams) Lafreniere, who passed away on December 1, 2008.
Born in Gumbinnen, East Prussia, Germany on December 30, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Gohannes Ernst and the late Emma (Reich) Ernst.
Helfired was raised and educated in Germany.
Following World War II, she and her late husband emigrated to the United States and resided in Somerville and Roxbury until moving to Tewksbury in 1960.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Albanian Orthodox Church.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed as an Accountant by the B.A.S.F. Corporation, where she worked for more than 30 years.
Helfried was an avid gardener, loved working around her yard, and enjoyed a great appreciation for animals and nature.
She is survived by two grandchildren, Christien M. (Lafreniere) Orlando and Michael A. Lafreniere both of Tewksbury; one great grandson, Nicholas P. Orlando; also numerous extended family members and friends.
Calling hours will be Monday, March 24, from 10-11 a.m at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury, immediately followed by Funeral Services to be held in the funeral home. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Lowell General Hospital Cancer Center, 295 Varnum Ave., Lowell, MA 01854.
