Worcester - Haig Donabedian, 94, died Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at the St. Francis Home. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Ida (Tateosian) and Kasper Donabedian. He was an Army veteran of WWII (6953rd Army Postal Unit) and Purple Heart recipient. Mr. Donabedian was a life-long postal worker and retired from the Summer Street Worcester branch of the U.S. Post Office.
His wife of 46 years, Satinig "Sally" (Shamgochian), died in 2003. They resided on Birmingham Road in Worcester for many years. He leaves a niece and three nephews, Patricia Trapasso, Thomas, Gregory, and Richard Donabedian, and their families. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Roxie, George, Leo, and Martin Donabedian.
Funeral services will be private at the Armenian Church of Our Saviour. He will be laid to rest beside his wife at Hope Cemetery. Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester MA 01605 is directing arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Armenian Church of Our Saviour, 87 Salisbury Street, Worcester MA 01609.
