Obituary

GLOUCESTER – Eleanor T. (Cabral) DeCaro, 82, died Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House, following an extended illness. She was the wife of the late Joseph A. DeCaro, who died in December of 2004. They had shared fifty-two years of marriage.
Born in Lowell on September 4, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Lucille (Abreau) Cabral.
Eleanor was employed by the former Seafood Kitchens for many years, having retired in 1992.
She and Joe were avid travelers and enjoyed trips to many locations including California, Hawaii, Los Vegas and Florida.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Ruth (Brown) DeCaro; her daughter, Debra Dahlmer; three grandchildren, Amanda, Dereck and Michael DeCaro; her brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Arline Cabral; four sisters-in-law, Theresa DeCaro, Catherine Vannah, Connie DeCaro and Frances DeCaro, as well as her dear friend, Faye Bunce and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her dogs, Bandit and Kimmy. She was also predeceased by her son-in-law, Jon Dahlmer, Sr.
In keeping with her wishes, services will be held privately. There are no visiting hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester. Expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the Cape Ann Animal Aid, 4 Paws Lane, Gloucester, MA 01930.
