Obituary

Hughes, Donald J. Jr. of Newark, Ohio passed away peacefully on March 16, 2014, surrounded by his family. Born in Boston, MA, he was the son of the late Donald J. Hughes, Sr. and Helen Quirk Hughes. He was married to the late Cynthia (Paquette) Hughes for 42 years. He was a graduate of Boston College High School, Boston College, and Northeastern University. He served in the Army Corps of Engineers. His career in finance included work with Prudential Life Insurance, Northeastern Airlines, Boston Safe and Trust, Quality Inn (Silver Spring, MD), Anchor Hocking (Lancaster, Ohio), and Snyder Security Group (Danvers, MA). He is survived by his four children: Catherine Hughes of Carmel, IN, Jennifer Hughes of Granville, OH, Gregory Hughes and his wife Geralyn Hughes of Quincy, MA, and Stephen Hughes of Tiverton, RI; his grandchildren Benjamin, David and Olivia Fox, Sophia Hughes; Charlotte Hughes, Elijah Frost and Abraham Hughes; his siblings and their spouses, Carol and Tom Mealey, David Hughes; Kathleen and Gene Lozier, and James and Ann Hughes; and in-laws, Jean Paquette, Deborah and Emilio Moscoso, Virginia and Joseph Godino, and William and Celeste Paquette; nieces and nephews, John Christopher (and Doreen) and Matthew Going (and Bridget), Michael (and Irma) and Michelle Paquette, Julia (and Shawn Quinlan) and Samuel Moscoso, David and Alison Godino, Noelle and John Paquette, Carol Ann, Robert (and Deborah) and William Mealey, Deborah (and David) Marino, David (and Jenna) Hughes, Carolyn Hughes, Barbara (and Herb) Diaz, Christopher and Megan Lozier, James (and Bailey) Hughes, and their children. He was preceded in death by Adrienne Paquette, Diana Paquette, and Elaine Hughes. His last years were spent in Newark, Ohio, involved in his daughters' and grandchildren's lives.

Funeral from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St. Woburn, Saturday, March 22nd, at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Eulalia Church, 50 Ridge St., Winchester, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Funeral Home will be held on Friday, from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. In lieu of flowers contributions may be mad in Donald's memory to your local hospice association or for cancer research at www.pelotonia.org.
