WAYLAND: Sandra J. (Cain) VanValkenburg, 68, died peacefully and comfortably on March 12, 2014 at the Miriam Boyd Parlin Residence following a brief illness.
She was born in Marlborough on December 29, 1945 the daughter of Lucille M. (LaFrance) Cain of Wayland and the late Peter Austin Cain.
Sandra is survived by her loving children Paul E. VanValkenburg and his wife Melinda of Easley, South Carolina and Lisa M. Post and her husband Dale of Roulette, Pennsylvania. She was the sister of Michael E. Cain and his wife Emily of Topsfield and Patricia Anderson and her husband Dana of Dudley. Also survived by 12 grandchildren.
Sandra has been a lifelong resident of Wayland and graduated from the Rose Hawthorne Academy in Concord with the Class of 1963. She received her Associates Degree from Northeastern University. Sandra had a long and established career as an Electrical Technician with several companies in the field of military contracts. In her earlier years she loved horses and horseback riding. Sandra was an avid reader and also enjoyed keeping in contact with her many friends and associates throughout the country on her computer. Her greatest pleasure was traveling and spending time with her loving grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at 10:30 am in the Bryant Memorial Chapel of the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Route 30), Wayland.
Interment will be held at a later date in Smith Valley Cemetery in Willseyville, New York.
In lieu of flowers her family suggests that memorial gifts in Sandra’s memory may be sent to Wayside Hospice, 266 Cochituate Road, Wayland. MA 01778.
