Obituary

David Zion, WWII Veteran of the United States Navy and a current resident of Marshfield formerly of Bridgewater entered into eternal life on Thursday March 13, 2014. He was 86 years old and the beloved husband of 55 years to Shirley J. (Hodges) Zion. Other survivors include his two daughters, Diane E. (Zion) Douglass and her husband Stephen of Saratoga,California, Debra J.(Zion) Vettori and her husband Christopher of Marshfield and his three grandchildren Stephanie, Alexander and Kathryn. He was also a brother to the late Helen Ventura, Peter Zion, Theodore Zion and Edwin Zion.

Born February 25, 1928 in Bridgewater,Massachusetts David was a son to the late Andrew Zion and Mary (Mazur) Zion.

David attended Bridgewater Public Schools and was a 1945 graduate, star athlete and football team "Captain" at the former Bridgewater Academy. He also attended the former Lowell Technical Institute.

Mr. Zion served his country proudly aboard the USS Howard W. Gilmore during World War II and was Honorably Discharged in 1947. He was employed for most of his working career as a Meat Department Manager at several supermarkets in the South Shore area.

His hobbies included reading and learning all he could about United States History. David will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

At his request all services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in David's memory can be made to the charity of one's choice.
