Obituary

STANLEY MACLEOD, a lifelong resident of Hull, died on Wednesday, Oct. 27th at the Life Care Center of the South Shore in Scituate after a long illness. He was 86. Mr.MacLeod was the Building Commissioner for the Town of Hull for over 20 years, retiring in 1983. He was a member of the State Building Committee and was instrumental in writing the State Building Code. He was also a well known local building contractor, who worked with his late father, D. Alexander MacLeod. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II serving with the Seabees. Prior to his service to the Town of Hull, he was also an automobile salesman for many years with Cohasset Motors. Mr. MacLeod was a Past Master of Konohassett Masonic Lodge in Cohasset, a Past Commander of the Hull American Legion and served on the Board of Directors of the Hull Cooperative Bank.He leaves his wife, Edna M. (Thompson) MacLeod, and two sons; John A. MacLeod and Richard T. MacLeod all of Hull. He was the brother of William F. MacLeod of Vero Beach, FL, the late Lillian Locklin, the late Burt MacLeod and the late John MacLeod.Also survived by 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.Relatives and friends may visit at the Downing Cottage Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham on Friday evening from 4-8 PM.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society,30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.The funeral services and interment are to be private.
