Daniel “Robert” Tavano died at the Massachusetts General Hospital after a brief illness. He was 93.
A life-long resident of Somerville, Robert was the son of the late Antonio and the late Josephine (Argenzio) Tavano. After high school, he served in the Army during World War II. Serving in Italy, Germany and Central Europe. Robert earned the Combat Infantry Badge, three Bronze Service Stars and the Purple Heart. After his discharge from the military, Robert worked as a machinist in the Charlestown Navy Yard. He was devoted to his family and friends and will be missed by all who knew him.
Predeceased by his sisters Michelina Cassetta and Rose DiBenedetto, he leaves his loving nieces and nephews: Daniel DiBenedetto, Marie DiBenedetto, Loren Emery and her husband Kyle and their children: Taylor, Trevor and Troy Emery.
Friends and family may call Sunday, March 16th, from 4 - 7 PM at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford and are kindly invited to attend a funeral service in the funeral home at 11 on Monday morning. Services will conclude with Military Honors and burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
