Allie Marie Connell Revels, 104, of Tifton died Friday, March 14, 2014, at Tift Regional Medical Center. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 17, 2014, at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Kelltown. Rev. Robert Thompson will officiate with burial to follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery with Rev. Kevin Harris officiating. The active deacons of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Kelltown will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 16, 2014, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Mrs. Revels will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Revels was born on November 15, 1909 in Lake Park and was the daughter of Dan Connell and Greta Hiers Connell, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Julius Herbert Revels; one son, Edwin Julius Revels, Sr.; and several brothers and sisters. She worked at Armour and Company and owned the Petite Beauty Salon, where she worked as a hairdresser until the age of 70. She was a charter member of 60+ years and the oldest living member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Kelltown, where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir.
Mrs. Revels is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Greta and Frank Sinclair of Tifton; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
