Obituary

CHICOPEE – Muriel M. (Cote) Thibodeau, 86, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, March 13, 2014. She passed into Eternal Life surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born in Holyoke on December 2, 1927, a beloved daughter of the late William and Alma (Fortier) Cote. Muriel and her 15 siblings were raised in Holyoke and she moved to Chicopee in 1949. She was last employed as a crossing guard on College Street in the Fairview section of Chicopee for the Chicopee School Department. She previously worked at the former Falls Nursing Home in Chicopee. Muriel was a wonderful homemaker to her family and, throughout her illness, was able to mend hearts and bring her family together once again. She was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Fairview. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Leslie G. Thibodeau who was Called Home on February 27, 1989. She leaves her two loving children, Paul G. Thibodeau of Leominster, MA and Debra A. Daudelin and her husband, Henry, of Chicopee; her five cherished grandchildren, Kelly Nadeau and her husband, Raymond, Mark Lacharite and his wife, Myssie, Piper Lacharite and her fiancé, Timothy Tobiaz, Timothy Daudelin, and Elizabeth Daudelin; her eight cherished great grandchildren; her five dear brothers and one dear sister, Earl Cote and Richard Cote, both of Chicopee, John Cote and his wife, Sally, of Belchertown, Harvey Cote and his wife, Helen, of Chicopee, Charlotte Cote of Douglas, MA, and Charles Cote of Easthampton; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, and extended members of the Thibodeau and Cote families. Besides her parents and her husband, she was also predeceased by her nine dear siblings. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday morning, March 18, 2014 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Notre Dame Cemetery, 63 Lyman Street, South Hadley, MA 01075. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, March 17, 2014 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home.
