Obituary

Margaret L. (Nowell) Kennedy, “Peg”– 93, a lifelong resident of Winchester, passed away March 12, 2014 at the Blaire House in Tewksbury. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas E. Kennedy, Jr. Born, raised and educated in Winchester, she was a 1937 graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Winchester, where she served as Vice President of her class.

Peg and her late husband were members of the Mr. and Mrs. Club at St. Mary’s Church for many years. She was also a member of the Ladies Sodality. A loyal Red Sox fan, in her spare time, Peg also enjoyed sewing, knitting and square dancing. She was also an avid reader, and particularly enjoyed reading mysteries. A fabulous baker, she was always very welcoming and loved to share a batch of whatever she had recently baked.

She was the loving mother of Betty Jean Conte and husband Richard of Billerica, Phyllis Ann Kennedy of Gloucester, Rosemary Hooper of Sharpsburg, GA, Thomas E. III and wife Mary of Haverhill, Paul and wife Annette of Winchester, Kathleen Daggett and husband Robert of Chelmsford, Michael L. and wife Ann of Olympia, WA, Robert B. and wife Andrea of Winchester and the late John and Christopher Kennedy. She was also the dear sister of Marion Callahan of Woburn, Ann Theresa MacMillan of Winchester and the late John, Joseph and James Nowell, and is further survived by her daughter -in-law, Merilyn Kennedy of Winchester, 17 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and Godchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester Monday, March 17 at 9AM before a Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church at 10AM. Visiting Hours will be held in the funeral home on Sun. from 2-6 PM. Interment Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester. In lieu of flowers, donations in Peg’s memory may be made to St. Mary’s Church, 155 Washington St. Winchester, MA 01890.
