EPPING, NH - Frank F. “Fred” Schofield, age 76, an entrepreneur who had founded and owned several successful businesses in both Massachusetts and New Hampshire, died Wednesday afternoon, March 12, at the Exeter Hospital, after a lengthy illness. He was the life partner of Donna Seidel, for the past seventeen years.
Fred was born in Newton, MA, on October 26, 1937, one of three sons of the late Frank and Elizabeth (Jenkins) Schofield, and was raised in Watertown, MA. He graduated from Watertown high School with the Class of 1953.
In his youth, he served in the U.S. Army Reserves. His career took several turns, as a photographer he founded and operated Photech in Waltham, he also founded and ran Colonial Motors automobile sales in Hudson, MA. He was the current owner of the Video Game Exchange in Plaistow, NH, a company he founded a twenty three years ago.
Fred was a life long birder who achieved his dream of living on the water when he moved to a home on a pond in Epping in 2007, and he thoroughly enjoyed the birds and water fowl that visited daily. He was a member of the NH Audubon Society. In his earlier years, he also collected antique automobiles.
Besides his life partner Donna, he leaves four children, Jeffrey A. Schofield and his wife Jana (Grandmont) of No. Dighton, MA, Pamela J. Caverly and her husband Glen of Mooresville, NC, Bradford E. Schofield and his wife Cheryl (Bodwell) of Tewksbury, and Douglas Schofield, of Franklin, NH, whose life partner Vic Anthony Tyll, died last November; two brothers, David Schofield and his wife Susan of the Villages, FL, and Alden Schofield and his wife Carol of Maryland; two step children, John Seidel and Dawn Marie Surette, both of Tewksbury; ten grandchildren and step grandchildren, Alexis Schofield of Londonderry, NH, Keara Allen of No. Dighton, MA, Kelan O’Connell of Taunton, MA, Tyler and Kevin Caverly both of N.C., Justin Schofield of Tewksbury, Leanne Hollis of Franklin, NH, Danielle Rae, Natalie Kay, and Evan Paul Surette all of Tewksbury, and many nieces and nephews.
