Brockton – Ida F. (Nickerson) Tassinari 98, formerly a longtime resident of Kingston, died Wednesday March 13 in St. Joseph Manor Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Remido L. Tassinari.
Born and educated in Duxbury, she was the daughter of the late Avner and Jessie (Weatherbee) Nickerson.
Ida had married Remido Tassinari on her 17th birthday and together they began “One Mile Farm” which later became Tassy’s Restaurant, a longtime landmark in Kingston.
For many years Ida had worked for Tassy’s Restaurant and had also enjoyed working for Ruth Wakefield of Duxbury, before her retirement.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed her family most of all, and was truly the happiest with her many grandchildren around her.
She is survived by her children Robert Peter Tassinari of Kingston, and Diana Caperello of Whitman, her daughter-in-law Susan Tassinari of Marshfield, and her former daughter-in-law Barbara Gilbert of Duxbury. She is also survived by her longtime friend Gertrude Caperello of Pembroke and her adopted daughter Margaret Scholl of Weymouth as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Raymond and Norman Tassinari and sister of the late Avner and Davis Nickerson and Pauline Tassinari, Emily Peterson and Jane Drew.
Her services will be held Monday March 17 at 8:15 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral mass at 9 AM in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Burial will follow in the Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman. Visiting hours will be held Sunday March 16 from 2-6 PM.
