Solomon Brandt Jackson passed away Friday March 7, 2014 at 1pm.

Born December 28, 1919 in Miami Arizona he resided in Douglas Arizona prior to joining the United States Marine Corps in 1938.

Stationed in Pearl Harbor in 1941, Solomon survived the Japanese attack on the fateful December 7th morning. Following the attack Solomon, known as Jack would be sent back to the U.S. to train seabees at Port Hueneme. While at Hueneme he would meet the love of his life Doris Aurora Navarro, with whom he would later raise three sons, Don, Brandt, and Bruce, in a marriage that would last 64 years.

After their marriage, Jack would be sent overseas to he Pacific where he would see action with the First Marine Division in such engagements as Guadalcancal, Peleliu, and Okinawa. At Okinawa he was awarded the Bronze Star and also received the Purple Heart.

Returning home together Jack and Doris would raise their family in the City of Ventura. jack supported the family by working for Shell Oil Company, retiring in 1972 after 25 years of service. He would continue working in the Oil Industry for Atlantic Oil Company and later "consult" for Texaco Oil.

Jack served in the small community of Saticoy, first helping as a volunteer for the Saticoy Little League, then as an umpire, and later as league President.

Together Jack and Doris loved to grow plants and flowers. Their favorites being roses, orchids and epiphyllums.

Jack also had a passion for photography. he enjoyed taking pictures of family, his flowers and California scenes. jack, with his wife Doris, loved to entertain both friends and family at their home on Linden Drive.

Solomon Brandt Jackson is survived by brother Walter Jackson; sister Mary Ellen Davidson; sons Brandt and Bruce; along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and, yes, great great grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to a Holy Rosary to be recited on Thursday Evening March 13, 2014 at 6PM in the JOSPEH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME 757 E. Main Street, Ventura. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11AM Friday March 14, 2014 in Sacred Heart Church 10800 Henderson Road, Ventura. Interment will follow in Santa Clara Cemetery, Oxnard.
