Dawson, James P. "Sonny", 72, was reunited in heaven with the love of his life, Sandy Dawson, on the 8th day of March, 2014. He courageously battled cancer for ten years, and the illness became complicated with a broken heart in April of 2013 due to the loss of his wife. In addition to Sandy, he is predeceased by his parents, James L. and Martha Dawson. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Suzette and Leonard Gentry; sister, Linda Criswell; niece, Tamela Freeman (Davy); and his trusty companions Gizmo and Shelby. He is retired from Allied Ready Mix Concrete and was a farmer, U of K basketball and Jeff Gordon fan. Funeral services will be 12 noon Thursday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway, with burial to follow at St. Andrews Cemetery. Visitation will be 2- 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. until time of service. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society.
