Obituary

GLOUCESTER – Harold A. “Goody” Goodrich, 86, died Friday afternoon, March 7, 2014. He was the husband of the late Joan D. (Silva) Goodrich, who died in April of 2008. They had shared fifty years of marriage.
Born in Detroit, Michigan on March 1, 1928, he was the son of the late Clarence and Marjorie A. (Morris) Goodrich. He was a lifelong resident of Gloucester and a graduate of the Gloucester High School class of 1946, where he was a member of the R.O.T.C.
A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, Goody was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant in September of 1952.
As an automotive mechanic, he worked for numerous shops on Cape Ann including, the former P.N. Hodgkins, Dick Mariano and Works Chevrolet, having retired in 1988.
Goody was also a longtime member of both the Gloucester Lodge of Elks No. 892 and the Cape Ann Chapter No. 1471 Loyal Order of Moose.
He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Clarence “Buster” and Lois Goodrich; sister and brother-in-law, Marge (Roberts) and Charlie Bishop, Joan’s aunt, Frances Silva, and his lifelong friend, Raymond LaBombard and his family. He also leaves behind many friends including his dear friend and caregiver, Sheila Williamson, and Jack McKay, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his brother, William J. Roberts and his stepfather, James Roberts.
His funeral service will be held on Wednesday morning in the Beechbrook Cemetery at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday evening in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester from 6 -8 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the Golden Living Center, Resident Activity Fund, 272 Washington St., Gloucester, MA 01930
