Obituary

Louis R. “Ray” Roy, 80, of Woonsocket died Thursday at Woonsocket Health and Rehab Center.
Born in Uxbridge, MA he was the son of the late Octave Napoleon and Roseanna (Desjardins) Roy. He was raised in nearby Massachusetts and lived in Woonsocket for most of his adult life.
Mr. Roy was a veteran of the United States Army.
Ray was employed at Milford Hospital in the kitchen staff for many years and had previously worked at several area firms including Browne & Sharpe, Woonsocket Dye, and U.S. Rubber. He was a longtime communicant of Precious Blood Church. Ray enjoyed collecting an eclectic variety of memorabilia.
He is survived by a sister Doris St. Pierre, and her husband Raymond, of Brooklyn, CT and his niece and longtime caregiver Theresa “Terry” Charpentier of Woonsocket. He was the brother of the late Leo, Eugene, Ernest and John “Eli” Roy, Irene Charpentier and Lillian Fener. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families.
His funeral will be Tuesday at 9:00 am from the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave., Woonsocket followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Precious Blood Church, Carrington Ave. Woonsocket. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham, Visiting hours are Monday from 5-8 pm. Flowers are welcome.
