E. Gordon Ozelius, 86, of Manomet, passed away March 6, 2014.
He was born to the late Gustav Edwin and Margaret (Linde), Dec. 21, 1927, in Brockton, MA. Gordon graduated from Brockton High School in 1945 and was drafted upon graduation into the Army. He proudly served in General Douglas MacArthur’s Honor Guard in the US Army of Occupation in Tokyo following World War II and was a long time member of the Honor Guard Association. He received a BA in Teacher Education from Springfield College in 1952.
Gordon grew up in the Campello Swedish section of Brockton and was the owner of Campello Package Store. After moving in 1976, Gordon was an active member of the Manomet community. He owned Dutchies Greenhouses, and served as past secretary and president of the Manomet-Cedarville Kiwanis Club.
Gordon is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Connie (Verkade) and his five children: Theodore and his wife Marilyn, Diane and Douglas all of Plymouth; Daniel of Brockton; Laurie and her partner Ann, of White Plains, NY as well as three grandchildren Erik, Katie and Pasha and brother Edwin and his wife Irene from Woburn and cousins Janet Ketron and Jack Linde from Indiana and Chris Linde from Florida
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to Boston Medical Center.
The wake is at the Richard Davis Funeral Home 619 State Road (Rte 3A) in Manomet (Plymouth) on Thursday March 13th, 2014 from 4-8PM. Private burial will be held at a later date at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA
