Obituary

Ellen F. (Riley) Harvey, 79 of Salem, died peacefully at home, Tuesday, March 4, 2014 following a long illness. She was the loving wife of Richard M. Harvey with whom she had shared 52 years of marriage.

Born and raised in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Ellen (White) Riley. As young woman she first worked for GMAC and later for the Address-O-Graph, Multi-Graph companies of Boston. She and her family eventually settled in Hingham. Ellen and Dick married in 1962 and have been residents of Salem ever since.

Ellen was a shy, quiet and deeply religious caregiver. She possessed a gentle sense of humor which she shared with everyone and especially the family members, extended family members and friends she cared for over the years. She was a former member of the Carmel Club of Hamilton and member of the former St. Joseph Church of Salem and was currently a member of Ste. Anne Church. She will be deeply missed.

In addition to her devoted husband Dick, she is survived by her brother, John Riley and his wife Emma of Wellesley, as well as several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 8:45 A.M. to be followed by her funeral mass in Ste. Anne Church, 290 Jefferson Ave., Salem at 10:00 A.M. Visiting hours will be on Friday at the funeral home from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Oblate Infirmary Fund, 486 Chandler St., Tewksbury, MA 01876-2849.
