Obituary

Frederick W. Grabau, June 18, 1924 - March 3, 2014, born in Seattle, WA. He was raised in San Diego, CA before moving to Brighton, MA. In 1944 he enlisted in the Army and served in the 66th Infantry Black Panther Division in the European Theater of Operation. After being honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant, he returned to Brighton and graduated from Bentley College. He married Winifred Leontine McCobb, who predeceased him. They raised their family in Winchester, MA and had a summer home in Falmouth, MA. He was employed for over 40 years with Pistorino & Co. in Boston and was the owner of State Freight Inc. in Boston and Shrewsbury. He is survived by his six children, Suzanne W. O’Hearn, and the late John J. O’Hearn, Phyllis and Paul Silva, Elisa Johnson, Frederick and Arlene Grabau, Jr., Yvonne and Kenneth Sheldon, and Gretchen and Brock Phillips. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
A visiting hour will be held in the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean St., Rte. 139 in Marshfield on June 18, 2014 from 10 to 11 a.m. with a service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held in Massachusetts National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m.
