Obituary

Mary E. “Mae” (Coletti) Gerrish, 77, of Bridgewater, formerly of Whitman, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away peacefully March 1, 2014, surrounded by her family.
Born April 27, 1936, to the late Carmin and Mary (Mahoney) Coletti, she graduated from Braintree High School in 1954 where she excelled as a soloist trumpet player in the band and orchestra. She was married to Kenneth F. Gerrish (Weymouth) for 56 years.

At the center of Mary’s life were her family and all children. However her life was marked by many passions including music, oil painting, Italian cooking, a lifelong love of dogs and anything related to the beach or sun. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends throughout her life and many laughs were shared at frequent gatherings where she would always light up the room.

Mary was proud to work for The First National Bank of Boston but her most rewarding role was as school secretary in Whitman where she cared for children. She later became a successful jewelry salesperson and licensed Realtor in Massachusetts and Florida.

Mary is survived by her husband Ken; sons Steven and his wife Dara of St. Augustine, Fla., John and his wife Maria of Bridgewater and Kenneth A. Gerrish and his wife Marci of Matthews, NC and sisters Rosalie Rodick of Whitman, Janet Bennett of Plymouth and Carol Junkins of Hanson and she was predeceased by her twin brother Richard D. Coletti. She is also survived by grandchildren Elizabeth and her husband Eric Mobilia of Bridgewater, Sean Gerrish and Brian Gerrish of Bridgewater, Christine Gerrish and Kenneth D. Gerrish of Matthews, NC, great grandson Mason Mobilia of Bridgewater and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.

Her visitation will be held on Thursday March 6th from 4:00-8:00 PM and her funeral services will be held on Friday March 7th at 8:15 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) followed by her funeral mass at 9:00 AM in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Burial will follow in the Central Cemetery, East Bridgewater.
