Obituary

CHICOPEE – Claire L. (Roux) Hebert, 90, of the Chicopee Falls section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, March 1, 2014. She passed into Eternal Life at Redstone Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in East Longmeadow surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born at home in Chicopee Falls on May 15, 1923, the youngest of 11 children to the late Phillipe and Dorilla (Hamel) Roux. She was raised in the Aldenville section of Chicopee and graduated from the former Mount Carmel Elementary and High Schools in the Willimansett section of Chicopee. She later lived in Holyoke and then in Aldenville before moving to the Canterbury Arms Apartments in Chicopee Falls around 1976, where she made many new friends. Claire was a wonderful homemaker to her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Henry J. Hebert who was Called Home on March 5, 1988. They were married on September 7, 1942 at the former Precious Blood Church in Holyoke and were blessed with over 45 years of happiness together. Besides her parents and her husband, she was also predeceased by her loving son, Dennis A. Hebert who was Called Home on March 7, 1996; her cherished great-granddaughter, Arynne Lavarnway who was Called Home on June 28, 2003; her loving son-in-law, Ernest R. Larose who was Called Home on June 18, 2011; her three dear brothers, Ralph, Lucien and Luc Roux; and her seven dear sisters, Aurore Thibeault, Aldea Champagne, Antonia St. Cyr, Germaine Boutin, Jeannette Tetreault, Dorilla Parent, and Rita Rivet. She leaves her loving son and daughter-in-law, Donald P. Hebert and his wife, Louise, of Chicopee; her loving daughter, Cecile I. Larose of Chicopee; her five cherished grandchildren whom she adored, Pamela A. Lavarnway, Marc J. Hebert and his wife, Jessica, Charlene M. Laplante and her husband, Kevin, Jennifer L. Hartbarger and her husband, Jeremy, and Stacey A. Jarmuzewski and her husband, Michael; her five cherished great-grandchildren who were the apple of her eye, Matthew and Adam Lavarnway, Jessica and Nathan Laplante, and Mason Hartbarger; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, and extended members of the Hebert and Roux families. Her funeral will be held on Saturday morning, March 8, 2014 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, March 7, 2014 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family has requested that memorial donations be made in her memory to the Chicopee Boys and Girls Club, 580 Meadow Street, Chicopee, MA 01013.
