Obituary

Doris F. Emery, a lifelong Stoughton resident, passed away on Tuesday October 19, 2004 at the Guardian Center in Brockton, after a lengthy illness. She was 92 years old.

Born in Stoughton on May 5, 1912, she was the daughter of the late George and Elizabeth (Hern) Emery.

Miss Emery attended Stoughton Public Schools and was a graduate of Stoughton High School.

After high school, she received a Business Degree from the former Maltby Business School of Stoughton.

Miss Emery worked in the office of the former Cochran Shoe Company of Stoughton as an office manager. She then worked for the former Brookfield Engineering Company also of Stoughton, where she was the head of personnel, a bookkeeper and the head of the payroll department. Miss Emery worked there for more than forty years, retiring at age seventy.

She was a member of The First Congregational Church of Stoughton, and was the churches clerk for forty years, a choir member for forty-nine years and a Sunday School teacher for sixteen years.

Miss Emery was also a member of the Stoughton Musical Society, Stoughton Women’s Club and the Chuch Fellowship Group at the First Congregational Church of Stoughton.

She and her friends enjoyed travelling to and vacationing in Maine.

She is survived by her two nieces: Priscilla A. Winters and her husband Franklin of Bourne,MA and Rosalie MacDonald and her husband Charles of Plymouth,MA.Also survived by four great-nephews and two great- nieces. She was also sister of the late John Willard Emery.

Her Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday October 26, 2004 at 3:00 P.M. from the Sheehan Funeral Home, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton. The Reverend Donald Bizer, Pastor of The First Congregational Church of Stoughton, officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.

Visiting hours are also on Tuesday prior to the service from 12 noon to 3 P.M.
