Crestview, FL – Glensie Adams Devore, 86, formerly of Augusta, died in Crestview, FL on Tuesday February 25, 2014.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at Platt’s Crawford Avenue Chapel with Chaplain Dexter Lambert officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park immediately following the service with an Eastern Star graveside service.
Mrs. Devore was a native of Montgomery County, Kibbee Georgia near Vidalia but had lived in Augusta since 1951. She was a member of Warren Baptist Church, member of the Seeker Sunday School class in the singles 3 department, the Sanctuary Choir, Women’s Missionary Society and a member of the Prayer Warriors group of the church. She along with her late husband, Irvin, found and organized the Southern Gospel Singers. She was a member of the Elizabeth Chapter #43 Order of the Eastern Star having served as Worthy Matron three times for her Chapter, Grand Martha of the Grand Chapter – State of Georgia and various other state offices and committees. She was a member of the Past Matrons and Past Patrons club of Augusta having served as President of the club. She retired from Atlanta Gas Company after 27 years of service, then becoming a member of the Retiree’s Club, having served as President, Vice President and Secretary of the club. She was a member of the Augusta chapter of Senior Friends. She was a volunteer for Augusta Regional Hospital, Senior Friends activities, St. Joseph Hospital Hospice and Veteran’s Hospital.
She is survived by her son, Glen I Devore (Sandy), of Pensacola, FL, two grandsons, Joshua Devore of Augusta and Dustin Devore of Navarre FL, and several step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Irvin J Devore, and brothers, Cleveland P Adams, Eustis Adams and Marvin Adams.
Pallbearers will be Pat Hattman, Dennis Harrington, Mariano Delgado, Chris Doris, Jake Weathers and Carlos Delgado.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening, March 1, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
