Fall River – Robert R. Edgcomb, 78, of Main Road, Westport died unexpectedly, Saturday, October 23, 2004 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Virginia (Wunderly) Edgcomb.
He was born in Philadelphia, PA, son of the late Harry L. and Lucy (Minor) Edgcomb, and had resided in Westport for the past 22 years. He served his country during WWII in the United States Navy. Prior to his retirement he was president of Edgcomb Steel of New England. An avid outdoorsman and master craftsman, Mr. Edgcomb will always be remembered for his tireless efforts to promote sustainable environmental conservation and for the betterment of his community notably through his work with the Westport River Watershed Alliance, Westport Fishermans Association and Ducks Unlimited.
Including his widow, he is survived by 4 sons: Peter L. Edgcomb of Hampton, NH, Jeffrey W. Edgcomb of Saylorsburg, PA, Daniel M. Edgcomb of Poughkeepsie, NY and Nathan R. Edgcomb of Marlborough, NH; a daughter: Susan E. Borges of Dartmouth; 2 brothers: Harry L. Edgcomb of New Jersey and L. Richard Edgcomb of Wyoming; a sister: Beatrice Booth of Massachusetts; 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A Service of Celebration will be held Saturday, November 20, 2004 at the Westport Point United Methodist Church, 1912 Main Road, Westport Point, MA 02791 at 1:30 P.M.
