Obituary

CHICOPEE – Frederick A. Gladu, Jr., 63, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, February 25, 2014. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Holyoke on February 7, 1951, a beloved son of the late Frederick A. Gladu, Sr. and Claire E. (Gosselin) Gladu. He was raised in Chicopee, graduated from Chicopee Comprehensive High School and was a lifelong resident of the city. He was last employed as an elevator operator at the former National Blank Book, which later became Dennison National, in Holyoke. During his leisure time, Fred enjoyed chatting with his many friends on his CB Radio. He leaves his beloved step-mother, Helen T. Gladu of East Longmeadow; his loving brother, Donald F. Gladu and his wife, Vickie, of Chicopee; his loving sister, Patricia A. “Patty” Nemeth and her husband, Zoltan, of Enfield, CT; his step-sister, Janice Baronian of West Springfield; his many cherished nieces, nephews, grandnieces, one grandnephew and cousins; and his former wife, Janet M. Cliche.Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his loving sister, Patty Gladu. A Service of Committal will be held on Tuesday afternoon, March 4, 2014 at 12:30 p.m. at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family has requested that memorial donations be made in his memory to the Shriners Hospital for Children, (please specify Springfield), 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
