Ethel S. Drexler, 80, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Friday, February 28, 2014, at St. Williams Catholic Church, in Fitzgerald, with the Father Scott Winchel, Deacon Ed Drexler and Lector Charles Clark officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7 to 9, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Drexler was born October 14, 1933, in Fitzgerald, to the late Lee and Myrtice Purvis Stapleton. Being a former resident of Marietta, she moved to the community in 1984. She was a seamstress for Fitzgerald Underwear and was also owner and operator of Ethel’s Custom Drapery. She loved to garden, especially vegetables, canning vegetables and crafting. Mrs. Drexler was a member of St. Williams Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years: James Drexler, Jr. of Fitzgerald; grandson: Wayne and Angel Stone of Covington and great-grandsons: Justin Stone and Jacob Stone. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter: Patricia Carol Widener; a son: James Lee Drexler; three brothers and three sisters.
