Antone “Tony” Estrella, 85, of Westport, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at Crawford Skilled Nursing Center in Fall River. He was the husband of the late Alma (Arel) Estrella and longtime companion of Dorothy “Dottie” Fonseca.
Born in Fall River, son of the late Antone J. and Mary F. (Correira) Estrella, he had been a lifelong resident of Westport. Prior to his retirement, he was the owner and operator of both Tony’s Excavation Co. of Westport and Westport Public School Bus #10. Mr. Estrella was a musician and his bands Tony and the 4 Deuces and The Blenders performed at the Holy Ghost Club of Westport and other establishments. Mr. Estrella was a communicant of Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport and enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include 4 sons: Antone Estrella and Michael Estrella, both of Westport, Robert Estrella of Taunton and Joseph Estrella of Fall River; 3 daughters: Gail Neeld of Tiverton, Jenifer Coite of Westport and Karen Bettencourt of Tiverton; 3 sisters: Francis Dean of Westport, Patricia Estrella and Dolores St Pierre, both of Fall River; 12 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Jesse, Alfred, David, Manuel, George, Edward, Joseph and John Estrella and Alice Lopes.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Saturday, March 1, 2014 from the Potter Funeral Home at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport at 10:00 A.M.
Calling hours will be Friday from 5-8 P.M.
Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River.
