NEW BEDFORD… Ann J. (Teixeira) Alves, 83, of New Bedford, passed away Monday, February 24, 2014 at Sacred Heart Home.
She was wife of the late Antonio Alves.
Born in New Bedford, she was a daughter of the late Antone and Maria (Souza) Teixeira and had lived most of her life in Fall River until moving to Dartmouth in 2009.
Mrs. Alves worked as a floor lady at the former Rochelle Apparel before retiring in 1995 after 30 years. She was a member of I.L.G.W.U. and enjoyed working in her yard and spending her time entertaining her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter: Cynthia Alves and her companion Mark Wildermuth of Dartmouth, a sister: Dolores Belanger of Westport, several nieces and nephews. She was sister of the late Norma Boissonneau.
Funeral Mass to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Monday, March 3 at 9:30 AM in the chapel at Sacred Heart Home, 359 Summer St. New Bedford. Visitation will be held 8:30 – 9:30 AM prior to the mass. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ann’s name to Sacred Heart Home Activities Fund, 359 Summer St. New Bedford, MA 02740 or to Beacon Hospice, 182 North Main St. Fall River, MA 02720.
