Howard M. Knopp
July 22, 1940 to Feb. 24, 2014

Howard M. Knopp, 73, of Alexandria died February 24, 2014 at his residence following an extended illness.

He was born July 22, 1940 to William "Bill" and Hazel (Eaton) Knopp in Elwood. When he was six, his family moved to Alexandria where he lived the rest of his life.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1969 as a Private First Class.

He was an electrician at Johns-Manville, Prime Battery, Fiber-X, co-owned Just Ride Skate Park before retiring on March 25, 1999.

He was an accomplished builder, among other projects he was proud to have designed & built our home. He enjoyed traveling by RV, model building; target shooting; collecting knives; RC and NASCAR Racing. More than anything, he loves spending time with his family and friends and spending winters in Texas. Howard was a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather.

He was a member of Florida Station Church of God.

He is survived by Carolyn (Brown) Knopp, his loving wife of 46 years whom he married June 24, 1967 at Alexandria Church of God; Brian M. Knopp, son; Diana Knopp, daughter-in-law; Dillan Knopp, grandson; Nathan Knopp, grandson; Lucas Knopp, grandson; Jason E. Knopp, son ; Mason Knopp, grandson all of Alexandria; Kathryn Smith, sister-in-law of Winder, GA; Jessie Deck sister-in-law, Independence, KY; Ann (Alan) Thompson sister-in-law, Anderson; Oscar J. (Ruth) Brown, brother-in-law, Anderson, IN; Robert (Connie) Brown, brother-in-law, Longwood, FL; Ronald Brown, brother-in-law, of Anderson; Lee Roy (Lisa) Brown, brother-in-law, of Anderson; Tommy (Tavonia) Brown, brother-in-law, of Alexandria, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Williamson "Bill" Knopp, mother, Hazel (Eaton) Knopp, sister, Nancy Knopp.

Service will be Friday, February 28, 2014 12:00 noon at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Rev. Jerry Hilligoss officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, February 27 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Vinson Cemetery in Summitville, IN with military graveside rites provided by the VFW Post 266 Honor Guard and National Guard Honors.

Memorial contributions may be given to Florida Station Church of God Day Care Ministries.
