Obituary

Lucie O. Duhaime, 92, of Manchester, died peacefully at home on February 23, 2014 following a period of declining health.

She was born in Manchester May 7, 1921 the daughter of Rodolphe and Cecile (Robitaille) Duhaime. She was a lifelong resident of the home her parents built in 1845. Lucie graduated from St. Anselm College in 1959. Along with three others, she was a proud member of the first class of women to graduate from the college. Later, she attended Boston College Law School.

Lucie worked for Swanburg Construction Co. for a time. She then began to work in the law offices of Chretien and Craig and later William Craig, Sr. She worked in the law office of Governor John King and as his Secretary for the duration of his tenure in the State House as Governor. Following this, she became the Administrative Aide for Sen. Thomas J. McIntyre and then for the State of New Hampshire until retiring.

She was an ardent Democratic and worked throughout her life for the advancement of party goals. In more recent years, she was pleased with the success of women elected to leadership positions. Lucie's interests included volunteering at the Currier Gallery of Art as well as the love of music and theater, which she continuously supported.

She leaves three siblings, Jeannine Robert of Manchester, Dr. Robert B. Duhaime and sister law Carmen of Peterborough, and Elise Monroe of California. Lucie has bounteous nieces and nephews. She cherished each and every one, marveled at their differences, shared in their joys and hardships. She welcomed in the third and fourth generation with every bit the same love and joy.

She was predeceased by four siblings, Charles Duhaime, Paul Duhaime, Marcel Louis Duhaime and Claire Noury.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at St. Catherine Church, Webster St., Manchester. Private burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
