Aileen R. Durante
Retired Occupational Nurse

TEWKSBURY: Aileen R. (Stoddard)(Wile) Durante, age 91, a resident of Tewksbury for 12 years, formerly of Gloucester, Lynn, Falmouth and Derry, NH, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial V.A. Hospital in Bedford.
She was the beloved wife of the late Walter Wile and the late Pasquale Durante.
Born in Wolcott, VT on August 1, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Archie and Lavinia (Powers) Stoddard.
Aileen was raised in Morrisville, Vermont, attended local schools and graduated from Peoples Academy. Following high school she entered the Addison-Gilbert Nursing School in Gloucester, MA, where she received her Nursing Degree.
In 1945, she enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a Nurse at Ft. Devens during World War II.
She was a communicant of St. William's Parish of Tewksbury and a member of the Lynn American Legion.
Prior to her retirement in 1984, she was employed as an Occupational Nurse by the American Mutual Insurance Company in Wakefield for 20 years.
She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Morin and her husband Dennis of Tewksbury and Jeanne Merrill and her husband Norman of Woodstock, VT; two sons, David Wile and his wife Brenda of Colorado Springs, CO and Robert Wile of Tuscon, AZ; two step-sons, Thomas Durante and his wife Antoinette and Peter Durante all of Brockton; one brother, Erwin Stoddard of Colchester, CT; one sister, Evelyn Gibson of Winchester, NH; seven grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, five great grandchildren and ten step-great grandchildren; also many nieces and nephews.
Aileen was the step mother of the late Pasquale "Patsy" Durante and Cecelia Nappi. Mother-in-law of the late Ellie Wile. Step-mother-in-law of the late Diane Durante. Sister of the late Dorethy Carbonaro. Sister-in-law of the late Pat Stoddard, Robert Gibson and Joseph Carbonaro.
Calling hours Friday, Feb. 28, from 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Her funeral will be held Saturday, March 1, at 9 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. William's Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. At the request of the family, there will not be a procession to the cemetery. Please meet Saturday, March 1, at 12 p.m. at St. Mary's Cemetery, 190 Lynnfield St., Lynn for her burial service. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the American Heart Assoc., P.O. Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241 or to the Alzheimer's Assoc., 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472
